Woodlawn Cemetery

A peaceful resting place cared for by the Ferndale community for generations.

Rooted in Community

Woodlawn Cemetery sits on more than seven acres of quiet rural land in Ferndale, Washington. Established by early local families, the grounds continue to be maintained with care and respect. Woodlawn is a place of reflection for visitors and a place of rest for those laid to peace here.

Our Story

The history of Woodlawn reflects the families and community who have cared for it over time.

Early Origins

Local residents donated the original land and helped create what would become Woodlawn Cemetery.

Community Stewardship

Responsibility for the cemetery moved between the City of Ferndale and a local association as community needs changed, keeping the grounds under local care.

A United Resting Place

In the 1990s, remains from the former Ferndale Catholic Cemetery were respectfully moved to Woodlawn, where a memorial now honors them.

Today

Woodlawn is maintained by Whatcom County Cemetery District No. 6, which oversees the care of the grounds and records.

Honoring the Catholic Community

Woodlawn is home to the relocated remains from the historic Ferndale Catholic Cemetery. A dedicated memorial on the grounds preserves their story and recognizes the families who are part of that heritage.
